The Minns Labor Government is delivering a $200 million fast-tracked investment to repair and maintain roads across Greater Sydney, targeting damage caused by one of the city’s wettest winters on record.

This initiative brings the total road maintenance funding for Sydney in the 2025–26 financial year to $488 million. The goal is to enhance road safety, reduce vehicle damage, and ensure faster repairs across the state’s busiest corridors.

### Targeted and Data-Driven Repairs

More than 5,100 potholes were already repaired across Sydney during August and September 2025 alone. The new funding will support:

- Higher volumes of maintenance crews
- Faster response to surface damage
- Upgrades focused on key traffic and freight routes

Repairs will be prioritised based on:

- **Traffic volumes**
- **Severity and location of the pothole**
- **Importance of the road for freight, buses, or emergency services**

Approximately 15% of potholes are reported by the public. Motorists can report issues through the Transport for NSW website or by calling 131 700.

### Lasting Improvements to Key Roads

In the 2024–25 financial year, the Minns Government’s maintenance effort in Sydney included:

- **10,879 potholes repaired**
- **Almost 1 million m² of resurfaced road** (equivalent to 125 football fields)
- **344,000 linear metres of new line markings**

### Statewide Commitment to Safer Roads

This Sydney-focused funding complements the previously announced **$155 million regional roads blitz**, part of a record **$1.25 billion maintenance investment** across non-metropolitan NSW in 2025–26.

With growing communities needing both new and better roads, this investment ensures Greater Sydney’s network stays reliable, safe, and resilient against future weather damage.
