The 2024 Volkswagen Amarok has secured a prestigious 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), demonstrating its commitment to occupant protection and advanced safety features in the competitive ute segment.

The Volkswagen Amarok received a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, applicable to all dual cab variants sold from May 2023 onwards.

## Safety scores:

- Adult Occupant Protection: **86%**
- Child Occupant Protection: **93%**
- Vulnerable Road User Protection: **74%**
- Safety Assist: **83%**

The rating is based on testing of the closely related Ford Ranger, with additional frontal offset and side-impact tests conducted on the Amarok.

## Standard safety features include:

  - Dual frontal, side chest-protecting, and side head-protecting (curtain) airbags
  - Driver and passenger knee airbags
  - Centre airbag for added protection in side impact crashes

## Advanced driver assistance systems include:

  - Autonomous emergency braking (Car-to-Car, Vulnerable Road User, Junction Assist and Backover)
  - Lane support system with lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and emergency lane-keeping
  - Advanced speed assistance system

The Amarok performed well in emergency lane keeping, lane keep assist, and car-to-car AEB tests, with good scores awarded.

Car-to-pedestrian AEB tests revealed an overall Adequate level of performance.

ANCAP notes that the installation of child restraints in the center seating position of the second row is not recommended due to the absence of a top tether anchorage.
