# Volkswagen’s Revamped Golf Lineup Set to Rev Up Australian Roads in 2025

Get ready to feel the thrill of a fresh drive! Volkswagen has officially confirmed that the revamped versions of the iconic Golf – including the GTI and R hot hatches – will be speeding onto Australian shores during the second quarter of 2025.

The Mk8.5 Golf R retains the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that has been its power source for nearly 15 years, but with a little twist. It now generates an impressive **245kW of power** and **420Nm of torque**, an increase of 10kW and 20Nm over the outgoing model.

Staying true to its legacy, the Mk8.5 Golf R boasts of a 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds, shaving two-tenths off the sprint time of its predecessor. With an impressive top speed of 270km/h in cars equipped with the optional Performance Pack, the Golf R is all set to rule the roads.

As for the Golf R Black Edition, it’s a darker, edgier take on Volkswagen’s classic, featuring darkened badges and headlights, black brake calipers, black 19-inch Estoril wheels and black exhaust tips. It’s not just about the looks; the Black Edition also comes with the Performance package as standard.

Inside, the updated Golf R features a 10.25-inch digital instrument and a 12.9-inch infotainment system running the brand’s latest software.
