The Department of Transport (DoT) will trial extended weekday trading hours at three Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) centres for eight weeks from 30 June until 29 August 2025.

Locations and Hours
Cannington, City West and Mirrabooka DVS centres will open for all DoT transactions between 7.15am and 5.30pm on weekdays. This trial allows customers to visit before or after typical work and school hours, offering greater convenience.
Background and Motivation
These extended hours trial follows the success of the Saturday blitzes at the same locations. These blitzes aimed to reduce wait times and improve customer satisfaction, allowing people to attend outside of standard weekday hours.
Customer Feedback and Success
Approximately 12,800 customers visited Cannington, City West or Mirrabooka during the Saturday openings, with most welcoming the chance to conduct business with DoT on the weekend.
Increased Demand and Staffing
DVS centres have faced increased demand over the past two years. In 2023-24 alone, DoT completed over 2 million transactions and assessments. To meet this growing demand, 43 new staff positions were created across metro service centres.

Impact of Migration
A significant rise in interstate and international migration to WA has placed further pressure on licensing services. Many new residents must visit DVS centres in person to transfer vehicle or driver licences or apply for industry-specific occupational licences.
Standard Operating Hours Elsewhere
During the trial, all other metropolitan DVS centres will maintain their regular hours of 8.15am to 4.30pm.
Post-Trial Evaluation
Once the trial ends, DoT will review both customer and staff feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of the extended hours.
Statement from Government
"This trial of extended weekday trading hours is a positive step towards improving the customer experience at the Department of Transport's Driver and Vehicle Service (DVS) centres," said Minister Assisting the Transport Minister Jessica Stojkovski.
