Motorists across New South Wales are being urged to act fast, with $130 million in unclaimed toll relief still available under the state’s $60 weekly toll cap scheme. The deadline to claim rebates for travel completed in the 2024 calendar year is fast approaching, with claims due by June 30, 2025.

What Is the $60 Toll Cap?
The $60 toll cap, introduced by the Minns Government in 2024, limits weekly toll expenses for eligible motorists. If a driver exceeds $60 in tolls within one week, they can claim the difference as a rebate. This initiative was introduced to ease the financial burden of tolls, especially for residents in Sydney’s west, where toll roads are heavily relied upon.
Under the scheme, drivers can receive up to $340 per week in rebates depending on usage. Since the scheme began, over $139 million in toll relief has already been distributed to NSW drivers, with a majority of the benefits going to residents of suburbs such as Blacktown, Baulkham Hills, Marsden Park, and Bankstown.
Unclaimed Toll Relief by the Numbers
While the scheme has already delivered substantial cost-of-living support, an additional $130 million remains unclaimed for tolls incurred between January 1, 2024, and the end of March 2025. Drivers have until June 30, 2025, to claim rebates from the 2024 calendar year.
Only three Sydney suburbs—Blacktown, Baulkham Hills, and Auburn—have surpassed $2 million in claimed rebates. Meanwhile, other heavily affected areas like Merrylands, Castle Hill, Lakemba, and Greystanes have each received over $1 million in toll refunds.
How to Claim
Eligible motorists can submit their claim online via the Service NSW website or by visiting a Service NSW Centre in person. Claims for toll usage in the second quarter of 2025 will open on July 9, and drivers have until June 30, 2026, to submit claims for the 2025 calendar year.
Transport Minister John Graham emphasized the importance of the rebate: “These are the parts of Western Sydney where paying a toll is not a choice, and in many cases relying on public transport is not a viable choice either.”

Customer Service and Digital Government Minister Jihad Dib added, “This initiative, delivered through Service NSW, puts money back into people's pockets at a time when we know families across the state are doing it tough.”
Who Benefits Most?
Suburbs benefiting most from the toll relief program include:
- Blacktown
- Baulkham Hills
- Auburn
- Merrylands
- Marsden Park
- Castle Hill
- Quakers Hill
- Lakemba
- Kellyville
- Bankstown
- Greystanes
- West Pennant Hills
- Punchbowl
These areas are among the most reliant on toll roads due to limited public transport access.
Final Reminder for NSW Drivers
Drivers who believe they’re eligible for the 2024 rebate are encouraged to check their toll activity and lodge their claims immediately. The June 30 deadline is firm, and any unclaimed toll rebates after this date will not be eligible for retroactive application.
