Updated designs for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project have been released, with key changes for level crossing removals at Kuraby and Bethania. The $5.75 billion project, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, aims to improve safety, reduce congestion, and increase connectivity along the corridor.

Kuraby Level Crossing Removal
At Kuraby, the Beenleigh Road level crossing will be replaced by a road-over-rail bridge. Intersection upgrades are also planned to improve traffic flow and connections for the local community.
Bethania Station and Rail Line Elevation
In Bethania, updated plans propose elevating the station and rail line above Station Road. This approach removes the need for a road-over-rail bridge, reduces impacts on community facilities and nearby properties, and provides easier cross-corridor access. The design also lessens construction disruption compared to earlier proposals.
Community Engagement
Community engagement sessions will begin in Kuraby and Bethania from Saturday, 13 September. These sessions will allow locals to provide input on the designs and discuss the impacts of the proposed changes.
Broader Project Scope
The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Project will:
- Remove five level crossings between Kuraby and Beenleigh
- Upgrade stations across the 20km corridor
- Improve walking and cycling connections
- Double the tracks from two to four between Kuraby and Beenleigh
Updated designs for other stations and precincts along the project corridor will be progressively released later in the year, with further engagement sessions planned.

Site Investigations
Site investigations began earlier this month, involving drilling rigs, survey work, and noise monitoring. These activities will inform detailed design and construction planning.
Funding and Delivery
The project is funded equally by the Australian and Queensland governments. The design and pre-construction contract for the major rail works package was awarded in March 2025 under the Crisafulli Government.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg confirmed the government’s focus on delivering infrastructure that meets the needs of growing communities.
